Coach Richard Boon commanded his team to exceed their own expectations and take personal pride in their performance. The girls listened.

Led by forwards Bailey Blakolb, Kelsey Birtcher, and Gabby Forss, SWSC’s frontline launched enough goals by halfway through their debut season with Coast Soccer League to ensure first place in their bracket. Even though the team could have kicked back and enjoyed their early victory, midfielders Andie Lammers, Emilee Mason, Zahn Malherbe, Paytynn Thomas, and Lauren (Willie) Wilson never relented, cinching their team’s undefeated record with a total of 46 goals scored. Should some strange spherical object have made its way to the backfield, “The Fearsome Four,” Alexys Brownell, Jennifer Gordon, Paige (P.K.) Kilpatrick and Paige Saxton-Getty ensured its quick departure and on occasion scored from the centerline. While goalie Tori Chenard could have caught some extra shuteye she opted to catch balls, keeping the teams total goals against to 2. Just for added stimulation she once scored a goal for her team from her box. (It’s a little like priority mail, only cheaper and much faster.)

The girls finish their first Coast Soccer League season strong and very excited for their future challenges. Watch for more excitement as the girls advance to Round 32 in League Cup November 10th and fly out to Dallas for The Dallas Texans Fall Festival Tournament 2007 on November 17 and 18th.
