Southwest Under 12 Premier Girls play up and Dominate !!
At the Dave Shelton Memorial Cup in Escondido during the weekend of August 20-21, the Girls Under 12 Blue team (a Presidio Premier Team) from Southwest Soccer Club won the gold medal in dominant fashion. Playing up in the under 13 age bracket the Southwest under 12 girls saw success as soon as they stepped on the fields at the Escondido Heat complex. Frustrating the competition the younger girls did not give up a single goal against their older opponents. It was not until after the tournament that the team revealed to the competition that they were in fact one year younger. The response was disbelief.
In bracket play Southwest’s Premier Girls beat the following teams: Poway Vaqueros 4-0, San Marcos Matrix 3-0 and PQ Premier 4-0. This placed SWSC Blue team first in their bracket with a maximum 30 points and a birth into the Championship Final. The final match paired up SWSC Blue against PQ Premier again, playing 30-minute halves the younger girls dominated from the beginning. Although PQ Premier came out fighting hard, the intense 12 year old girls pressure was too much. SWSC Blue scored a goal in the first five minutes and did not let up for a moment. The final score was 4-0.
